Where will the Vox Patris bell go?
The Vox Patris bell will be installed at the Sanctuary of the Eternal Father in Trindade, Brazil - one of the country’s most important pilgrimage sites. It will be mounted on the monumental tower of the temple, from where its powerful sound will resonate over the sanctuary, calling the faithful to prayer.
As the largest swinging bell in the world, it will become not only a symbol of faith and unity, but also an extraordinary testament to the craftsmanship of Polish bell-founding and bell-ringing technology.
Preparations
The high level of complexity of the project required the formation of a dedicated team and close collaboration between scientists, foundry engineers, designers, and bell founders.
Father Robson’s Visit to Poland
On February 18, 2014, Father Robson de Oliveira paid a visit to Poland, wishing to personally assess the possibility of having bells made in Poland for his Sanctuary.
First and Second Visit to Brazil
To better understand the specifics of the bell installation site, visits to the construction area were carried out in March and then in August 2015, combined with meetings with the team of designers.
The First (Unsuccessful) Casting
On November 20, 2016, after more than two years since the start of the project, the pivotal moment took place - the casting of the bell.
Analysis of the Failure
In December 2016, after a thorough analysis of the causes behind the unsuccessful first casting, conclusions were drawn regarding what had gone wrong.
Preparations for the Next Casting
Starting in January 2017, work on a new mold for the bell resumed with renewed determination, as the team prepared to face the challenge once again.
The Second Casting (Success)
On August 1, 2017, at 2:04 a.m., the Vox Patris bell was born—the largest swinging bell in the history of global bell founding.
Finishing Works
After three months of cooling in the casting pit, work began on removing the core and other remnants of the mold.
Bell Presentation
The world saw the bell in its full glory for the first time on September 20, 2018, during its official presentation attended by the media.
